I finally said goodbye to 2020, now time to say hello to 2021. 2020 is over, but it doesn’t mean everything is better. Of course, everyone is hoping 2021 will turn out to be a better year, but we can’t assume things, right? This year, I would like to focus on self-compassion and consistency. Here are things I will be doing for myself this year.
- Daily Meditation: I have been doing meditation for a couple of years now, but I have to admit, it wasn’t consistent. 2020 changed my life drastically in many ways and I lost the habit. I picked it up the habit again after I adopted cats. It’s a part of my morning routine after I feed my kittens first thing in the morning. I also have another meditation session during the day or before bed, depending on my exercise schedule of the day. Let’s see if I can actually adopt this habit rest of the year.
- 30 day challenge: It will be a month-long challenge, so may not be exactly 30 days, but I have few ideas for 30 days challenge and I will be adjusting them as time goes. This month, I wanted to take it easy and have been focusing on meditation. I want to 30 days of positive affirmations my counselor sent me next month. There are other ideas like vegan month, 100 burpees challenge, learning a language month (maybe Korean or Portuguese!), taking photos every day, and writing a letter to someone every day. Please let me know if there are other ideas or if you want to join me! ;)
- Composting: We all know “you are what you eat” and I have been trying to eat healthier! Since I started to cook more at home, I have been thinking about composting. I do not have much outside space at home and wasn’t sure how I could start. I found a service called LFC compost, that they send a composter bag to your house and you can compost at home. I’m doing this for myself and also for the environment. Something to give back to our mother earth!
- Input: In this digital age, people are consuming so much information every day. I’m one of those people who are always on the Internet, trying to keep up with what’s going on in the world. It can get overwhelming, especially because it seems like there is more negative news every day. But the world is not that bad. Instead of focusing on the news that everyone is talking about, I want to choose the information I get. So probably less time on the news site or social media, but more time with reading books, watching old movies, finding interesting YouTube videos and anything that can still teach me about the world.
- Output: As much as input is important, the output is also super important. I used to write more for myself. I was keeping my journal consistent when I was in school. Even after I lost the habit, I always had the journal or some notebooks around my desk, so when I want to express something, I know where I can go. But without the habit, I couldn’t keep it up. This year, I want to write a journal for myself more, but also I want to publish more here. There have been many topics I wanted to share, but I always thought “I don’t have to publish this” and that was the end of the story. It doesn’t matter what people think about it. I want to do it for myself :)
Thank you for reading! As much as I’m doing this for myself, it’s always good to hear feedback. Please let me know if you have any questions about what I wrote or if anyone wants to join my journey in 2021!
